Catalans Dragons foward Olivier Elima has signed today a new two-year contract extension.

The France captain during last World Cup, 31 years old, will stay at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until the end of the 2016 season.

Olivier Elima said: “I’m really happy to stay at the club for the next two seasons.”

“The club is moving forward on and off the field and I’m delighted to be a part of this exciting project.”

“A lot of young players will come through in the next seasons with the launch of the Academy team and I’m looking forward to work with them and bring my experience.”

Elima, who made his Super League debut at Castleford, also played for Wakefield Wildcats before signing for the Dragons for the first time in 2008.

The French forward returned to the club in 2012 having left in 2010 for the Bulls.

Elima has made 220 Super League appearances and scored 55 tries in his career (89 appearances and 31 tries with the Catalans Dragons)

Laurent Frayssinous commented: “Olivier is one of the key players in the Catalans pack and I’m really happy to keep him at the club.”

“His experience will be invaluable to the team, especially to all the young players who will join the club”
