New deal for Morgan Escaré

Morgan Escaré has signed today a new three years contract with the Catalans Dragons that will keep him at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until the end of 2016.

The young Perpignan born fullback, named 2013 rookie of the year at the club awards dinner, made his Super League debut last year against Bradford, round 8.

I’m really happy to sign this new contract. It's great to commit to a long-term deal with the Dragons.”

“But I know that the hardest is yet to come and I know what I have to do now. The break at the end of the World Cup allowed me to recharge my batteries to be ready for the new season. I’m now looking forward to start the Super League 2014.” Morgan Escaré

Shortlisted for the Young Player of the Year award at the Man of Steel gala dinner, he scored 15 tries in 17 games last season.

Escaré, 22 year old, made his international debut during the Rugby League World Cup 2013 and scored his first try for France against Samoa at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium.

He had one more year left on his contract but it was important not only for the club but also for Morgan to secure a long term deal. He came through our system and developed into a Super League player and we want to reward him with this new deal.”

Super League needs that sort of players, able to create the show. He is a real talent who has a great future ahead of him.” Bernard Guasch, Catalans Dragons Chairman.

I’m delighted to keep him in the squad for the next three seasons. Morgan has seized his opportunity last year and made an outstanding season but he has to confirm now. It must continue to work hard, to improve as a fullback but also on the wing because we want to be able to use it on both positions.” Laurent Frayssinous.
