Job Opportunity - Head of Performance

Role Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for the leading and managing the Performance and Medical Departments, leading the strategic direction of the physical performance programme and managing the Catalans Dragons Squad.

Roles & Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Lead and manage the performance and medical departments
● Responsible for delivering an integrated athletic performance program
● Lead and coordinate the strategic direction of the physical performance program
● Work closely with the coaches on planning training load
● Responsible for load and squad management
● Responsible for planning and periodisation of training schedule
● Assist in travel planning and logistics
● Other ad-hoc tasks as required by the coaching staff.
● Controlling and preparing budgets and purchases for the S and C sector
● Working as part of the ‘Heads of department’ group on global rugby matters
Technical Skills
● Experienced in interpreting GPS and wellness data
● Experienced in collecting and interpreting force plate and accelerometer data
● Excel, Numbers, Pages, Microsoft Word, Keynote, PowerPoint.
Personal Criteria
● A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an athletic performance (strength & conditioning) position within an elite/professional Rugby environment (candidates without rugby experience may be considered).
● Degree in sports science or a related subject.
● Good knowledge of the physical, psychological and demands of Rugby.
● Good knowledge of the profiling and screening of athletic qualities.
● Excellent expertise of injury risk reduction and return to play criteria.
● Excellent expertise in energy system development and conditioning.
● Excellent knowledge and programming skills in strength and power development.
● Excellent knowledge and implementation of recovery and regeneration.
● Evidenced experience of working in an interdisciplinary team and working collaboratively.
● Excellent people management and leadership skills.
● Excellent communication and conflict resolution skill.
● High level of self-awareness and overall emotional intelligence.
● Able to deliver a high standard of work at all times.
● Excellent organisational skills.
● Ability to self-motivate and prioritise workloads.
● Adaptable team player.
● Fully committed with a flexible approach to working hours and travel.
● Passport holder.
● Full Driving License.
Preferential Criteria
● MSc Degree in Sports Science or a related subject
● Bilingual French and English
