Catalans Dragons have appointed former Dragons’ player Sam Moa as assistant to Steve McNamara.

The former New Zealand and Tonga international is back at the club one year after having left the club and retired from playing professional rugby.

Arrived at the club in 2017, he spent four seasons at the Dragons, winning the Challenge Cup at Wembley in 2018.

The prop, who also played for Hull FC and the Sydney Roosters where he won the NRL title, made 90 appearances at Catalans, scoring 8 tries.

I have spent the past year with Lézignan and I have a greater appreciation for what rugby a 13 means to the people of this region of France. I am very grateful for my time as a player & assistant coach with Lézignan where I have gained some valuable experience. I look forward to working alongside Steve McNamara, Thomas Bosc and the staff at the Dragons as a collective in order to help the team and the club take the necessary steps to fulfilling its huge potential.
