Dragons sign Mitchell Pearce

Catalans Dragons are pleased to announce the signing of Australian playmaker Mitchell Pearce from the 2022 season.

The Newcastle Knights halfback has signed a two-year deal - with option for a third.

Mitchell Pearce said: “I am thrilled to have an opportunity to play for a proud rugby league team like Catalans.  They have some of the most passionate fans in the sport and it is an honor to be able to represent them. I would like to thank Bernard Guasch and Steve McNamara and look forward to helping them achieve their goal of a Super League Premiership.”

Mitchell Pearce made his NRL debut with the Roosters in 2007 as a 17-year-old and won a Premiership in 2013, the Minor Premiership in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and the World Club Challenge in 2014.

He joined the Knights in 2018 and his form the following season earned the halfback six consecutive man-of-the-match awards and an Origin recall, winning the series in 2019.

The playmaker has some big game experience playing not only Origin, but also NRL All Stars and NSW City.

Pearce joined the NRL's 300-club earlier this year after playing his 15th season in the competition in 2021.

Catalans Dragons headcoach Steve McNamara said: “We are delighted and excited by the signing of Mitchell. He has had an incredible career in the NRL and having worked closely with him before I know the sheer quality and energy he will bring to our team.”
