Richard Hunwicks leaves the Dragons

The club can confirm Head of Performance Richard Hunwicks is leaving the club.

He started his Strength & Conditioning career at Leeds Rhinos, where he won 2011 & 2012 Grand Final and World Club Challenge before moving to the Salford Red Devils. He then worked with Steve McNamara and Wayne Bennett as Head of Performance at the RFL and with England RL before joining the Dragons.

Richard Hunwicks

I’d like to thank the president, whole club staff, players and the unbelievable supporters for welcoming me and my family 4 seasons ago. I feel the club is in a great place and it is time for me to move on albeit with some sadness of course.

To win a challenge cup, league leaders shield and go so close in a maiden grand final is a credit to everyone. The young players are now ready and the club’s future is bright. It’s a journey I’ve been grateful to be part of.

Steve McNamara, Catalans Dragons Headcoach

Rich has been instrumental in completely changing our physical performance department from when I arrived. His work ethic, attention to detail and drive to improve the players physically has reaped clear and obvious rewards for the whole club. I am personally and professionally grateful for his support over the last 4 years and we wish him and his family well for the future.
