Sam Tomkins voted August Player of the Month

Catalans Dragons full back Sam Tomkins has been named August’s Player of the Month.

Tomkins has been included in four of this year’s five Player of the Month shortlists, winning the award for the first time in August.

The mercurial full back has been a mainstay in the Dragons side in 2021 and a hugely influential figure for Catalans this season.

Tomkins – a former Man of Steel - has helped steer the Dragons to top spot and was also named England captain in Shaun Wane’s most recent international squad earlier this year.

Based on Rounds 17 to 21, Tomkins was unanimously voted as August’s best player after a string of dominant performances.

During his three appearances, Tomkins led the Dragons to victories against Play-Off contenders Hull FC & Hull KR, as well as a first away win at Salford since March 2016 – scoring two tries and setting up three more in what has been yet another impressive month for the 32-year-old.

Following the Dragons recent heroics in Newcastle, Tomkins’ focus is firmly on finishing the season strong ahead of a home Play-Off tie which will see Catalans just 80 minutes away from a maiden trip to Old Trafford.

He said: “Thanks to the everyone that voted. Individual awards always come on the back of team performances and August was a good month for us winning 3 out of 4 games. We’re now looking to carry that consistency through to the end of the season.”

Congratulations Sam on winning August’s Player of the Month award.
