Leeds game postponed

Catalans Dragons’ Betfred Super League fixture against Leeds Rhinos, scheduled for Monday 7 September, has been postponed.

Earlier this week (Tuesday 25 August) three Dragons players and a member of the club’s non-playing staff returned positive tests in routine Covid-19 testing. The Dragons squad were instructed to isolate as soon as the news of the positive tests was received, forcing the postponement of this Saturday’s match against Wigan Warriors.

It is now confirmed, following consideration of all the available health information, that all Dragons squad members must isolate for 14 days – a duration which takes them beyond the scheduled fixture with Leeds Rhinos.

This weekend’s Betfred Super League programme, with all fixtures at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and live on Sky Sports, is now as follows.

Saturday: Wigan Warriors v Castleford Tigers (415pm); Leeds Rhinos v Salford Red Devils (630pm)

Sunday: Hull KR v St Helens (1pm); Huddersfield Giants v Hull FC (415pm); Warrington Wolves v Wakefield Trinity (630pm)

A decision on rescheduling the Catalans Dragons versus Leeds Rhinos game will be made in due course, and the RFL and Super League will now actively explore all available options to avoid any further disruption to the fixture calendar.
