Eamon O'Carroll appointed as assistant coach

Catalans Dragons have appointed former Widnes Vikings prop Eamon O'Carroll as assistant to Steve McNamara.

O’Carroll, 31, has been forced to retire through injury in 2017 and then joined the Widnes Vikings coaching staff.

He represented Wigan Warriors, Hull FC and Widnes Vikings in 149 Super League games, in a professional career that begun in 2005. He also earned six international caps for Ireland, playing in two Rugby League World Cup tournaments.

Eamon O'Carroll

“I am very exited to be joining the Catalans Dragons. I am very grateful Bernard Guasch and Steve McNamara have given me the opportunity to join such a great club and develop as a coach. I look forward to meeting all the players/staff/fans and working hard towards building on last year’s success. As a player I always admired the club and it is a privilege for me to be part of it.”

Steve McNamara

“Eamon is an extremely gifted young coach who’s enthusiasm and energy will be a great asset to the Dragons. He is very committed in everything that he does and we look forward to him adding his knowledge and skills to our existing group of staff and players.”
