St Helens went some way to avenging their Ladbrokes Challenge Cup semi-final defeat to Catalans Dragons with a last gasp 26-22 comeback win in Perpignan.

Saints came back from a 10-point deficit in the first half and an eight-point deficit in the second to seal a vital two points in the race to win the League Leaders' Shield.

The win gives St Helens a six-point advantage at the top of the table with three games to go and with vastly superior points difference over their rivals, effectively hands the Saints the title.

David Mead and captain Remi Casty put the Dragons into a 10-0 lead before Mark Percival got the visitors on the scoreboard. Josh Drinkwater extended Catalans' advantage but Theo Fages levelled up and the Saints led for the first time through Danny Richardson's penalty after Sam Moa was sin-binned to go 14-12 up at the break.

Iain Thornley and Kenny Edwards put Catalans 22-14 ahead, but Jonny Lomax touched down under the posts with nine minutes remaining to set up a grandstand finish before Morgan Knowles produced a superb try to seal the win for the visitors.
