Luke Walsh signs contract extension

Catalans Dragons halfback Luke Walsh has today signed a new one year contract with the club.

Walsh, 30, arrived at the club last year and has been a key player of the 2017 season.

Luke Walsh said: “I’m very pleased to be given the opportunity to stay with a club that is on the verge of doing something special. Steve has let me play my game and be a leader on and off the field. I love it here in Perpignan, it’s a great culture, they are great people and it’s a great opportunity for me and my family to learn and benefit from it.”

Walsh made 29 appearances, scoring 204 points (2 tries, 96 goals and 4 drop goals), with a 85% goal kicking percentage.

He previously played 107 NRL games with Newcastle and Penrith before joining Super League and Saints in 2014 where he scored 460 points in 63 appearances.

Catalans Dragons headcoach Steve McNamara commented: “Luke is a hugely influential member of our club and his re-signing is very important for us moving forward into 2018. We will be looking to add to him even greater responsibility and control within the team as we look to develop and build our game”
