Catalans sign Samisoni Langi

Catalans Dragons are pleased to announce the signing of Tonga International Samisoni Langi on a two-year contract from the start of the 2017 season.

On signing with the Dragons, Samisoni Langi said: “I am really looking forward to joining the Catalan Dragons for the next 2 seasons. My wife and I are excited for the opportunity to experience and embrace the Catalan spirit and we are looking forward to living in Perpignan. I believe my best years are ahead of me and I want to play a big part in the club’s climb up the Super League Ladder, in 2018 under Steve Macnamara - someone I have confidence in who will take my game to the next level.”

Langi, 24, can play at halfback or at centre.
Born in Auburn, Sydney, Langi is a former Australian Schoolboys representative who made his first grade debut for Sydney Roosters in 2013 before moving on to Penrith Panthers, playing for their NSW Cup side.
He was named at five eighth in the 2013 NYC Team of the Year.

He joined Leigh last season in June and made 9 appearances for the Centurions, scoring 2 tries.
Langi has also scored two tries and kicked 11 goals in six internationals and is at the moment representing Tonga in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

Catalans Dragons headcoach Steve McNamara said: “Samisoni is a tremendous signing for the club, having worked closely with him at the Sydney Roosters in 2014 I know exactly the quality he will bring both on and off the field for us. He is a young, ambitious man who is an exciting attacking player and one who wants to compete on every play."
