Dragons sign Lewis Tierney


 
 

Catalans Dragons are pleased to announce the signing of Lewis Tierney on a two-year contract.

The club has reached to find an agreement with the Wigan Warriors for the signing of the Scotland International, who will be involved in his first Rugby League World Cup and who will remain at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until the end of the 2019 campaign.

Lewis Tierney, 22, joined the Dragons on loan in July. He then made 10 Super League appearances, scored 3 tries, got 3 try assists and also averaged 130 metres per game. The young fullback or winger quickly impress the staff, in particular with his performance in the Million Pound Game.

Steve McNamara said: “Lewis proved to be a tremendous signing for us on loan last season and we are now delighted to have made that a permanent deal. His commitment, desire and determination to help us maintain our Super League status was there for all to see, and we look forward to seeing him progress further as a player with the Dragons over the next two years.”

Tierney, who came through the Wigan Academy system, made his Super League debut in 2013. The Scotland international, who won the Super League title in 2016 and the World Club Challenge in 2017, scored 18 tries in 37 appearances under the Cherry and White jersey and 1 tries in three games with Scotland before joining the Dragons.
