New deal for Louis Anderson and Lambert Belmas

Catalans Dragons back rower Louis Anderson and prop Lambert Belmas have today signed a new contract with the club.

Anderson, 32, has signed a new one-year extension.

The former New-Zealand international joined the Dragons from Warrington Wolves in 2012 and has scored 33 tries in 119 appearances for the Perpignan club. He became this season the third overseas player to reach 100 Super League appearances under the Catalans jersey.

Louis Anderson said: “I’m very happy to stay at the Dragons for one more year. I know something exciting is about to happen. This place is special to me and I'll ready to work hard for next season.”

Lambert Belmas, 20, has signed a new two year contract with the club and will remain at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until the end of the 2019 campaign.

The young Carcassonne born prop joined the Club academy in 2015. After two seasons with the Dragons U19, he joined the club reserve team last season, playing in the French Elite Championship.

He made his Super League debut in April at Huddersfield and will play his first Rugby League Wolrd Cup after having been named in the France 24-man squad.

Lambert Belmas commented: “I’m happy to stay at the club and really proud to see the faith the club and the staff have in me. I know I still have a lot to learn but it’s a chance and a privilege to train alongside experienced players who love to share with us. I am at the moment focused on the World Cup, I really want to give my best for my country but I really look forward to coming back to Perpignan to start the preseason with the Dragons.”

Catalans Dragons headcoach Steve McNamara said: “I am delighted with the resigning of both Louis and Lambert.”

“Louis has been tremendous for the club and even at the later stage of his career is in outstanding physical shape and has a willingness to continue improving his game. His experience and leadership will be vital for us moving forward into 2018.”

“Lambert is a young man with huge potential, his development is something I am really looking forward to playing a part in. I am sure he will put a huge amount of pressure on our established props in 2018 and I look forward to his return from the World Cup to commence what will be an important pre-season for himself. “
