Widnes Vikings lifted themselves off the bottom of the Betfred Super League for the first time in nine weeks as they clinched a 26-6 win over the Catalans Dragons.

The result represents the first time Widnes have managed to bag back-to-back wins this season, building on the victory against Leeds Rhinos.

Rhys Hanbury and Corey Thompson starred for the hosts, collecting a try each, and they were also in fine form with the boot, kicking all the goals.

Jack Buchanan and Gil Dudson also crossed for Widnes.

The Dragons started well and opened the scoring through Sam Moa, with Luke Walsh adding the extras, but the Vikings soon got a foothold in the game and went on to claim an important victory.
