Salford Red Devils kept the pressure on Betfred Super League leaders Castleford Tigers by thrashing Catalans Dragons 50-12 on an emotionally charged night at the AJ Bell Stadium.

The Red Devils offered fans free admission in exchange for a donation to the fund set up to help victims of the Manchester bomb attack on Monday. A minute's silence was observed before kick-off and fans held up 'I Love MCR' posters.

Supporters also staged a round of round of applause in the 22nd minute in tribute to those 22 killed in the blast only a few miles away at the Manchester Arena. And as if scripted, Salford scored a try in the 22nd minute - with the try coming from the player in the number 22 shirt, Kris Welham who was also named man of the match.

Gareth O'Brien and Josh Jones set Salford on their way prior to Welham's effort.

Niall Evalds and Ryan Lannon also crossed before half-time and Kris Brinning extended their advantage further two minutes after the break.

Vincent Duport went over for the first of two Catalans consolation efforts but Robert Lui, Mark Flanagean and Olsi Krasniqi made it nine different try scorers for the Red Devils before Fouad Yaha scored the Dragons' second late on.
