Full-time deal for Séguier and Da Costa

Catalans Dragons have signed prop Paul Séguier and hooker Alrix Da Costa on a full-time contract.

Séguier and Da Costa, both 19 years old, are both products of the club Academy.

Paul Séguier made 3 Super League appearances last season. The young prop, who agreed a two-year deal, said: “I’m really proud to sign my first contract with the Catalans Dragons. I feel I’m really lucky to train alongside great players such as Rémi Casty or Sam Moa who help me to improve every day. I wake up every morning to live my dream and it’s enough to make me happy.”

Alrix Da Costa made 7 Super League appearances in 2016, also making his France debut in October during the England Test match. The young hooker, who was the U19 captain, commented: "I’m really proud to commit with the Dragons and I would like to thank the club for giving me this opportunity. I feel really good in the team since the start of the preseason and I hope to play as many games as possible in 2017.”

Catalans Dragons Headcoach Laurent Frayssinous said: “I’m really satisfied to have this two young players with us for at least the two next seasons. They are the result of the great job done by the club in the Youth Development. Paul and Alrix are both players who work really hard, with a great attitude and motivation and they deserve their contract. They have both a bright future ahead of them but they need to keep working hard.”

Mathieu Khedimi, Club Board Member in charge of Youth and Development added: “The club proves today he is going in the right direction. We made big investments in our Youth and Development system and, after Lucas Albert and Fouad Yaha, they are the first products of our Academy. It’s a great reward of the good job done by the club and a great achievement for all the people involved.”

Catalans Dragons CEO Christophe Jouffret concluded: “We are delighted that Paul and Alrix have signed their first professional contract. It was important to keep them at the club and they have signed the first but I hope not the last contract with the Dragons.”
