New deal for Thomas Bosc

Catalans Dragons legend Thomas Bosc has today signed a new one year contract extension with the club.

The French half back will remain at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until the end of the 2017 campaign.

Named in the Catalans Dragons Team of the Decade, he is the club’s highest points scorer with 1169 points in 210 Super League appearances.

He will also continue to plan for when his playing career ends by joining the clubs reserve team coaching staff as Jérôme Guisset's assistant.

Thomas Bosc said: “I’m really happy to have re-signed with the Catalans Dragons. I’ve taken my time before taking a decision but I feel good and I'm ready to start a new season. I love this sport, I love this club but I would make sure that my body allowed me to keep playing at this level. I’m sure of my choice now and I’m delighted to stay another season.”

On his coaching role, he said : “I’m really happy with the project offered by the club, being named as the U23 assistant coach. I’m 33 now and I think about my career after rugby. I had my first experience last year with the U19 team and I’m excited to continue learning alongside Jérôme Guisset.”

Catalans Dragons coach Laurent Frayssinous added: "I’m really happy to keep Thomas at the club next season. He is an important player in our squad, for his versatility at the key positions in the halves, as a hooker or a fullback but also for his qualities and his values. He is an example of professionalism and humility. I can only be pleased with his decision to stay at the club, he will continue to share his experiences with the younger players and continue learning for his career after rugby."

Club CEO Christophe Jouffret commented: “A few days after Greg Mounis announced his decision to hang up his boots, our disappointment is reduced by the Thomas Bosc contract extension. We are really happy to keep one of the Catalans rugby league legends at the club, who is appreciated and respected by all and who will continue to share his experience with the young players who are coming through at the club.”
