Marc Sneyd was the architect of Catalans Dragons' downfall as leaders Hull FC ran out 44-0 winners to become the first team to secure their place in the First Utility Super League Super 8s semi-finals.

The returning half-back terrorised the Dragons with his kicking, in-play and off the tee, and capped off his man-of-the-match performance with a try to help the Black and Whites, who kept their second successive clean sheet, move to within 80 minutes of the Grand Final.

Hull, who also play Warrington Wolves in next week's Ladbrokes Challenge Cup final at Wembley, moved into a 12-0 lead inside 18 minutes off the back of two Sneyd kicks, Dean Hadley and Mahe Fonua both touching down.

The hosts then produced a slick break from one end of the field to the other, resulting in a four-pointer for Mark Minichiello, before Sneyd booted two penalties to open up a 22-0 half-time lead.

Fetuli Talanoa went in at the corner in the 42nd minute, Fonua crossed for a second time following an 80-metre burst and Sneyd also touched down on the hour mark.

Frank Pritchard capped off a fine Hull performance by charging over nine minutes from time, with Sneyd kicking his eighth goal, to leave the injury-hit Dragons' top-four hopes in tatters.
