Willie Mason released from his contract

Catalans Dragons and Willie Mason have mutually agreed an immediate release from the player’s contract.

Ruled out for the rest of the season with an avulsion fracture and ankle ligament tears, the player has been given permission to leave the club.

The former Australian international arrived at the club in February and made 14 Super League appearances, scoring 1 try.

Club CEO Christophe Jouffret commented: "It is bad news to see Willie ruled out for the rest of the season with a bad injury. Willie had a fantastic career in the different clubs he played for and on the international stage with New South Wales, Tonga and Australia. He will remain among the great players who have worn the Catalans Dragons jersey. We would like to wish him all the best for the future. "
