Catalans Dragons secured a fourth consecutive First Utility Super League victory with a battling 21-8 victory over Widnes Vikings at a wet Stade Gilbert Brutus.

The Vikings had recovered superbly to level the scores at 8-8 with 22 minutes remaining but late tries from Dave Taylor and Eloi Pelissier ensured the Dragons followed up wins over Huddersfield Giants, Salford Red Devils and Castleford Tigers.

Pat Richards' unconverted third-minute try was the difference between the sides at half-time, before Vincent Duport doubled the lead two minutes after the interval from Taylor's offload.

Widnes displayed plenty of character and levelled courtesy of Corey Thompson's 11th try of the season and a conversion and penalty from Rhys Hanbury.

But Taylor pounced on a loose ball to dive over following Duport's little grubber kick in the 67th minute and, after a Thomas Bosc drop goal, Pelissier flew over from dummy half to seal the points.
