Catalans Dragons reserve team will face Carpentras this weekend in the quarter Final of the French Cup Lord Derby. It could be a hard game for Saint-Estève XIII Catalan before to start the second part of the championship. Interview with the captain Joan Guasch.

It’s never easy to play against Carpentras even if it’s a team from the second division. There is a very special atmosphere when you play there. We’ll need to be focused, respectful and to show our best rugby to win this game. It’s a great opportunity for us to play against an Elite 2 team in the quarter Final. We’ll play with our best team on the field. We won’t rest players because we have the ambition to get our ticket for the semi-final. If we respect the game plan, we’ll do it.

About the championship, we finished the first part at the fourth position after two great games against Carcassonne and Albi. Now, we’ll play in the Group B against Avignon and Albi, two strong sides. It’ll not be easy but we want to win both cup and championship. And, to achieve it, we have to win all the games! So Group A or B, it’s the same for us.

I think we did some mistakes this year in the league but we learned a lot from them. We lost some games because we took wrong decisions. Now, we’re better, stronger and smarter. Even if we have a young squad, we would like to win a trophy this season. It’s our goal and we’ll give our best to do it. And it begins sunday in Cup against Carpentras.
