Todd Carney sign new contract

At the club’s awards ceremony last night, Todd Carney announced that he has signed a new, improved three year contract with the Catalans Dragons that will keep him at the Stade Gilbert Brutus until the end of 2018.

The Australian star, who turned 29 in June, has made 12 Super League appearances this season, scoring 5 tries and making 14 try assists.

Catalans Dragons Chairman Bernard Guasch said : “Laurent Frayssinous wants to build the future of the club with and around Todd Carney. After long discussions with Todd, we managed to find an agreement. He has had a tough season but he feels good here and wants to stay at the Catalans Dragons. The club and Todd have great common ambitions, he is a tremendous player who will help us to realise our goals and dreams and I’m really proud to keep him at the club. I am very happy for all the rugby league fans, for our supporters especially and our sponsors that Todd has chosen to stay in Perpignan. He showed that he is a quality rugby league player every time he was on the field and we are very pleased to announce the signing of this new contract."

Catalans Dragons head coach Laurent Frayssinous added: "I am delighted that Todd has made the choice to stay in Perpignan. He has been particularly frustrated with his season and is looking forward to starting 2016. He is hungry for victories and trophies and can help us to achieve our goals. We have seen what he was able to do on a field each time he played this season and I hope for him and the club that he can remain injury free now. We can do great things with a such talented player in the team and his signing once again shows the club's ambitions."
