Warrington Wolves failed to bounce back from their World Club Series defeat to St George Illawarra Dragons following a 38-18 First Utility Super League loss at Catalans Dragons.

The hosts advanced into a 18-0 half-time lead courtesy of Willie Tonga’s ninth-minute score and a brace of tries from Vincent Duport, Scott Dureau adding the extras to all three.

Despite Warrington fighting back with converted tries from Joel Monaghan and Gary Wheeler shortly after the interval, Zeb Taia crossed twice to make the game safe for Catalans.

Joe Philbin made it 32-18 but Michael Oldfield touched down six minutes from time for the French side, with Dureau kicking his seventh goal.
