Gossard named reserve headcoach


 
 

Former Catalans Dragons player Cyrille Gossard has been named headcoach of Saint-Estève XIII Catalan, the Dragons’ reserve team playing in French Elite Championship.

Gossard, who made 84 Super League appearances between 2006 and 2012, succeeds Steve Deakin who has been granted a compassionate leave to return to England for familial reasons.

Gossard, 34, was in the Steve Deakin staff last season and has been promoted from his position of assistant coach.

The new reserve team headcoach said : “I’m delighted to succeed Steve Deakin as new headcoach of the Catalans Dragons reserve team. My main goal, as Steve Deakin did during the last four seasons, will be to provide a maximum of player to the Super League squad.”

“We worked really hard during the last weeks and I’m looking forward the season start this week-end against Lezignan.”
