Richard Hunwicks appointed Head of Performance

Catalans Dragons have today appointed Richard Hunwicks as Head of performance.

Hunwicks is currently working as Head of Performance at the RFL and with England RL and will join the Steve McNamara staff after the Rugby League World Cup.

He will be assisted by two Strength & Conditioning coaches, Maxence Rivière and Loic Louit.

He started his Strength & Conditioning career at Leeds Rhinos, where he won 2011 & 2012 Grand Final and World Club Challenge before moving to the Salford Red Devils.

Richard Hunwicks said: “I am excited by this opportunity the work with a high class coach like Steve McNamara again and also the players and staff. The club is well supported and having been to Catalans over many years I clearly understand the passion the fans and owner have for success. There is clear desire to challenge again in Super League and I have no doubt I can positively impact on this process. I have hugely benefitted from my time with the England National Team having worked with some of the best players and practitioners in the game.”

Catalans Dragons headcoach Steve McNamara commented:  “I’m delighted that Richard has made the decision to join the Dragons. Having worked with him previously within the England program, I fully understand the strengths that he will bring to us. His organization, attention to detail and knowledge in building world class performance environments will be a huge boost for the playing group.
