Hull FC and Lee Radford celebrated the coach's new three-year contract by ending Catalans Dragons' seven-match winning run in First Utility Super League with a 28-26 victory at the KC Stadium.

The Black and Whites held off a late fightback to secure a seventh triumph in eight matches, moving to within two points of leaders Warrington Wolves.

Hull advanced into a 20-6 lead inside 22 minutes after Marc Sneyd converted tries from Fetuli Talanoa, Curtis Naughton and Sika Manu and then kicked a penalty.

Louis Anderson had crossed to half the deficit in the 13th minute before Catalans closed the gap to 20-14 at half-time following two unconverted tries from Pat Richards in the space of 10 minutes.

Scott Taylor extended Hull's advantage to 26-14 with his first try for the club in the 57th minute, shortly after Remi Casty was sin-binned, but the visitors came roaring back to set up a tense finish.

Jason Baiteri's converted effort took Catalans to within six points and, after another Sneyd penalty which proved vital, Eloi Pelissier crashed over.

Richards again tagged on the extras to become Super League's fourth highest point scorer, although the late rally proved in vain for the French side.
