Morgan Escare starred on his first appearance of the season as Catalans Dragons moved into the top four of First Utility Super League with a 41-22 victory over Castleford Tigers.

The visitors gave as good as they got in the first half, but once Escare jigged through their defence for his second try shortly after half-time it became a one-sided contest.

Jodie Broughton powered over in the corner before the Tigers came back with Greg Minikin latching onto a grubber for the first of his brace of tries.

Louis Anderson raced over in the left corner to round off a fine Dragons move and Todd Carney burst clear to cross under the posts.

Joel Monaghan grabbed two tries and an excellent take from Minikin meant there were only two points in it at the break after Escare scrambled over in the corner for the hosts.

Escare’s moment of magic took the fight out of Castleford and Carney bundled over for a second before Paul Aiton crossed and Escare rounded off a fine evening with a drop goal.
