Jodie Broughton scored a hat-trick against his former employers as Catalans Dragons defeated 12-man Huddersfield Giants 46-26 at the John Smith's Stadium.

The winger, who moved to France during the winter, scored three times during a 13-minute spell early in the second half to help the Dragons overturn a 20-12 half-time deficit.

Catalans had opened up a 12-point lead just 14 minutes in after Richie Myler and Glenn Stewart touched down.

But the Giants came roaring back courtesy of scores from Jake Connor, Jermaine McGillvary, Larne Patrick and Leroy Cudjoe, two of which arrived while Krisnan Inu was in the sin-bin.

Huddersfield's joy was shortlived as Broughton crossed three times and Joe Wardle was sent off for a high tackle in the 54th minute.

Paul Aiton, on his return from a bicep injury, and Julien Bousquet also went over and, after Kruise Leeming crossed for a consolation try, Myler had the last say with his second in the 75th minute. 

Catalans coach Laurent Frayssinous said: "I was really happy with the way we started both halves of the game and got on top of a good Huddersfield side twice.

"We have to understand why we made some poor decisions the last 15 minutes of the first half but apart from that we were on top.
