New deal for Tony Gigot

Tony Gigot today signed a new two year contract with the Catalans Dragons that will keep him at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until the end of 2017.

Tony Gigot said: “I'm really happy to have signed two years. It was my sole goal since I came back here to play as many matches and to prove my value and be able to get a contract.”

“ I am very happy that the club has been able to trust in me again and I know now that the hardest work is still to come and I have to be consistent in my performances over the next two years.”

The young centre, who has already played for the Catalans in 2010 and 2011 returned to the club at the end of the French championship season with Avignon, scoring a hat-trick against Wigan in his first Super League game back and he has not left the team sheet since the 23rd May.

Headcoach Laurent Frayssinous added: “Tony has had a unusual career. He returned to the club in recent months with great humility . He has seized the opportunity he was given to him and it makes it well at the club and supporters by his consistent performance every weekend."

"I am very happy to continue working with him saw its great room for improvement . Its profile is very important in a group because of its versatility.”

Club CEO Christophe Jouffret said: "Tony has captured the imagination of the Brutus fans by some amazing performances for a player who hasn't played at this level for a long time."

"The young player from Avignon who has lived some enriching experiences with the Dragons between 2010 and 2011 has also played for London Broncos , in Australia for the Sharks reserve and of course at the Avignon SOA XIII in the French championship."

"Wigan, St Helens and Widnes tried to sign him but Tony wished to remain faithful to the Dragons who have shown their trust in him and helped him to revive his career. This is a strong testimony to our club to see such a player to commit to two seasons full of promise."
